I am a life long resident of Baltimore, Maryland, where I live with my wife, Patti, and our two children, Samantha, age 26, and Jesse, 21. We also have an ADHD Airedale terrier, named Mugsy, who keeps us moving day and night. I have been a psychiatric social worker for 35 years, working with adolescents and their families.
Musically, I was raised on rock and roll. I saw the Beatles in concert when I was 12 years old and became absorbed in music after that. Some of my favorites were, and are, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Stones, The Kinks, Buffalo Springfield, The Animals, and many other bands of the 60's. I discovered country music in 1968, through The Byrds' groundbreaking "Sweetheart of the Rodeo". In 1970, in a dream come true, a became a roadie/hanger on with the Byrds until they broke up in February, 1973. (See the linked article for great details)
From my association with The Byrds, I became a devotee of Gram Parsons, who helped me with my country music education. I was lucky to see Gram and Emmylou in concert in 1973, shortly before his death. From his influence, I went back and discovered the masters of country and bluegrass music.
Patti and I discovered our other Patty in 2002 at the "Down from the Mountain" show in Bull Run, Virginia. Along with Gram and the late great, Clarence White, Patty has become our favorite singer. Unlike the other two, we can hear her sing live, which is a spiritual experience for us.
