When Jimmy Wayne returns to his Meet Me Halfway walk this week after taking two weeks off for concert commitments, don't be surprised if you see him floating through the desert. He's been on cloud nine since this past weekend.
Saturday night (June 26), Jimmy performed in Richland Center, Wisc., along with Dierks Bentley, Josh Thompson, Darryl Worley and Patty Loveless, as part of the Star Spangled Celebration. For Jimmy, sharing the same stage with Patty was something he had been looking forward to from the moment he was asked to perform at the event.
"I've always been a huge fan of Patty Loveless," Jimmy tells The Boot. "When I was nine years old, I lived on Second Street in Kings Mountain, N.C., on one end of that street. Patty lived in the brown trailer at the opposite end of that same street."
More than two decades later, the two met under very different circumstances. "Patty agreed to record a duet with me on the 'Do You Believe Me Now' album, on a song called 'No Good For Me.' I wrote this song about an ex-girlfriend. Although she and I had a bad breakup, I didn't want the song to be one dimensional, as if I was putting the blame all on her. Therefore, I asked Patty if she'd sing it with me. This allowed the responsibility to become ours. We were both equally to blame. We both were no good for one other."
Up until Saturday night's performance, Jimmy had not seen Patty in several years. The two reunited right in the middle of Jimmy's set. While he singing his debut hit, 'Stay Gone,' Patty surprised her former neighbor on stage.
"I heard another vocal come in while [I was] singing," Jimmy says, still grinning from the excitement......

Another new date! The last time she played so many festivals and fairs was in the 90's! So, it looks like Drive4COPD will be setting up at a lot of Patty's shows this year, and getting a lot of people to screen.
Michael Martin Murphy announced today that Patty is joining them at his "West Fest".
The festival is held at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle, CO. The fest is held Aug. 12 - 15- her exact date was not announced yet (but she has a gig on the 12th in KY, so that won't be it!)

In the massively late notice category, if you're traveling up to see Patty Saturday in WI, she's making a stop at Summerfest today to sign autographs.... I can't answer some of the questions we've had tweeted over in a quick enough time frame for this meet & greet, but the information we have is posted below, and if you're trying to head out there and need more information, please call Greg @ AM 920 The Wolf and he can help you out a bit more. Unfortunately, PLN has no control over her official site & social networks not always being updated, but we do usually keep up with all the local areas she'll have performances in & DRIVE4COPD to keep everyone updated the best we can!
Grammy-award winning country music star Patty Loveless is making an appearance TODAY at Summerfest. She’ll be speaking to fans about a cause that’s near and dear to hear heart: DRIVE4COPD.
The health initiative DRIVE4COPD aims to raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the country’s fourth leading cause of death. For Patty, this cause is personal – she watched her older sister, Dottie, suffer with COPD for eight years before she passed away in 1996 at the young age of 48.
Patty will be at Summerfest signing autographs starting at 5:30, taking pictures and encouraging people to get screened in person or at DRIVE4COPD.COM. -AM 920 The Wolf
