Grand Ole Opry

Patty's absence on the road the past few has given us a much greater appreciation for the Grand Ole Opry. People that ask us if it's really worth spend the money to hear her sing a couple songs obviously have never seen her perform before. I got the date for the October 13th date and did my usual frantic email and text to my best friend Anita, so we could plan to get tickets. Since Patty hasn't toured, I haven't been taking any time off work because I haven't had the need to go anywhere! So, I took the week off of the Opry appearance and went to Anita's in Georgia to spend the week. When we left on Saturday morning for the Opry, it was our first actual Patty Roadtrip in a long time!
I was a little pickier with our seats this time around (I know, I know, I should just shut up and sit anywhere since our appearances our rare), because I wanted some different photos. First show we opted for balcony, which we had front row in. An ederly couple sat down a couple seats from us, and when Patty was mentioned prior to the show, we let out our cheers for her and the man grinned and said "ALRIGHT! THEY PUT US WITH THE ROWDY GIRLS!". They were excited about Patty being there, so we had a good crowd around us.
When the televised portion began, we had Steve Holy and Darryl Worley before Patty. But, since we were in the balcony, we had an excellent view of Patty when she was standing in the wings with the band. We were pumped when we saw her--- and ready for her to come on! We noted that Jon Randall was with her, and were anxious to see what they were going to be performing.
Patty was finally introduced and we were, as usual, the loudest of the crowd. She did three songs off the bat: "Blame it On Your Heart", "Nothin But the Wheel", and "You Can Feel Bad". Before starting into "Wheel", she announced they were doing a song that they've been getting requests for (She's listening to us, so thanks Patty!), and it was the first time she'd done it on the Opry stage. The split second the music started, Anita and I started screaming. While it's ALWAYS awesome to hear her sing anything, we were simply ecstatic about hearing that one. She was absolutely amazing--- and it was awesome to see the crowd singing along. And, of course, it was fun to hear "You Can Feel Bad", and we were sure to throw our hands in the air at the same time as Deanie to get our area clapping along. Everyone in our area seemed to love her, and right when her set was over, the guy behind me tapped my shoulder and asked me what the name of the first song was. We told him and informed him he could buy the cd in the Opry shop!
We ended up leaving after that part, since we had plans to run out and pick up her flowers for the second show. Unfortunately, we missed "You Don't Even Know Who I Am", since we didn't know she was coming back out. (Note here that I do NOT like the new format they are doing for the TV portion of the Opry!) We were bummed when we found this out later on, but were glad it was just one song! "Wheel" was near the top of my list of songs I've been dying to hear again, so Patty definitely took care of that!
The second show we only had two songs--- "Blame" and "Wheel", but we weren't complaining! We were right up front, so when she walked out she saw us and broke out into a grin and waved. At the end of "Wheel", we gave her a dozen pink roses (our tradition--- always pink!), and before we knew it, she was gone. And at that point- so were we. We headed out to leave, rolled down the windows and blasted Patty as we sang along.
